Coaching and Connecting
Just as assessment ensures Vision360 DFW selects qualified church planters, coaching and connecting ensures our planters stay encouraged, motivated and accountable as they work toward milestones in the planting process.
Each month our church planting community meets at lunch roundtables to receive spiritual instruction, practical training, and a time of prayer together. These allows our community to not only receive information, but also create a strong unity that says, “we are all in this together.”
The roundtable meets on the first Thursday of the month at Fellowship Bible, Dallas from noon-1:30pm.
Vision360 DFW also provides church planters trained coaches that are both experienced pastors and Christian business leaders. This local community has been called the “Mayo Clinic” approach to coaching.
Coaching—the act of prompting or urging with instruction—is biblical. The scriptures record many examples of the early believers encouraging each other on to faith and good works.
It seems this was part of what God had in mind all along. Ephesians 4:11–13 says, “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
As they work toward that goal, every church planter, no matter how talented or passionate, will find themselves in need of direction, emotional support and all forms of practical counsel. Without these resources they will surely burn out, lose sight of their vision and feel crushed under the weight of their great task.
So a key part of our process involves linking planters with coaches who can mentor and guide them through their unique challenges. We’re committed to coaching not only because it is biblical, but because it works.
Research shows that productivity, skill development, morale and working relationships all improve dramatically when training is combined with coaching—when leaders come alongside their charges to not only tell them ‘it can be done,’ but go a step further and explain ‘how.’
